What do the IT Skeptic readers feel about the ITIL v3 exams?

What do the IT Skeptic readers feel about the ITIL v3 exams? We polled you to find out.

Based on the dubious research of our recent poll (self-selecting sample, biased sample population, small sample, no controls...), those of you who are unhappy about the ITIL v3 exams are a (vocal) minority - the majority of punters are happy with their investment.

Of course only 310 of you actually voted. I'm not sure if this is apathy or if shows the limited uptake of ITIL v3 training so far...

The results were:

Very satisfied 50% (155 votes)
Satisfied 8% (25 votes)
No opinion 10% (32 votes)
Dissatisfied 14% (42 votes)
Very dissatisfied 18% (56 votes)
Total votes: 310

Stats eh?! You could also have stated that only 32% (less than 1/3) were dissatisfied.

When presenting the facts, one should leave one's own biases at the door :)

Any service that registers one third dissatisfaction

I have no idea what bias you are criticising. I said "those of you who are unhappy about the ITIL v3 exams are a (vocal) minority - the majority of punters are happy with their investment." which I think is an unbiased assessment.

Any service that registers one third dissatisfaction is in serious trouble.

You are trolling.

Given the criticism of the exams on these pages it is an 'interesting' result.
Are you sure Dr Julie Linden isn't involved somewhere?

just want the ticket

I do audit for clusters of IP addresses, but vote stacking within 300 votes isn't hard.

On the other hand I'm prepared to believe that there is a silent majority who just want the ticket.

I could not summarise my thoughts into a simple vote!

I have sat and passed both the full Foundation V3 and the Managers Bridge. I passed both. So, I was happy with the result. I had no course for the Foundation, but I teach it, and think the syllabus severely lacking. I attended a trainers-only event for the manager's bridge, which was stimulating, friendly, enjoyable, but we all had major criticisms of the syllabus, and all thought the exam was a joke (but were moderated to a pass). Glad I passed, yes. Believe that this is a useful qualification - not sure. Believe that the exam is a good indicator of ability and knowledge - definitely not!
