Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

There's yet another service desk product banging away: this one is called cmdbcloud, a less than obvious name for a sevice desk. But it is. And if it is true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then they are trying hard to flatter a pre-existing SaaS service desk offering: Beetil.

Clearly Beetil is on to a good thing if new entrants are so keen on ...er... emulating it. cmdbcloud comes out of the UK. The co-founders are Jack Reviere and John Bridges. I hope the cloud-interface technology is innovative because it is hard to say the same about the user interface.

Disclosure: the IT Skeptic has an advisory role with Beetil. We both come from Wellington

Wow

Wow, the screenshots are scarying.. I have been following Beetil for a while now and I have been always amazed by their capacity to deliver an easy and smart-to-use application. I think their motto "Using ITIL without knowing it" says it all.
Always wonder what is the business model of these copycat companies...

no respect for cmdbcloud

Copying is a workable model especially if you pick a small innovative victim who doesn't have the resources to sue your arse.
It earns money but not respect.
They are focused on the backend part sucking CMDB info from the cloud. Front end UI is secondary for them and they don't have the dosh to do it properly, so they've taken the easy road by ripping it off. I can see why they've done it, but it earns my contempt. I just hope one of the big boys steals all their integration ideas - that'd be karma
