Kill the CAB some more

Accelerate says Approval Board. I say get rid of it.

Silvia Botrow tweeted this

It is from the DevOps book Accelerate (I checked).
A really good book, BTW. It just won the Shingo Publicatuon Award (reportedly - I can't find a link).

Of course they got the CAB name wrong, and it was called out on twitter.

CAB is implemented as a change Approval board pretty much everywhere. If it were advisory it would have no gating power and it wouldn't be at the end of the flow.

I said it before and I say it again: kill the CAB. Effective organisations don't need one.

Killing it is a "crazy goal". You can't kill it right away. Conditions need to be fulfilled first. But make it an aspiration, a navigational star, to get rid of it - that will take you in the right direction.
