The itSMF website misses basic information

Whether you are a newcomer to itSMF or a member, there are some fundamental things the itSMF International website does not tell you.

Delivery of COBIT User's Guide for Service Managers is slipping waiting on ITIL approval?

Delivery date for the COBIT User's Guide for Service Managers has slipped to "first quarter of 2009". (You may recall the IT Skeptic suggested this book will "put a cat amongst the ITIL pigeons").

itSMF International website adrift

Is the itSMF International website adrift again?

itSMF USA Board Election

Voting is underway for the itSMF USA Board from now to the end of this month. If you are an itSMF USA member you should have received the email that lists the candidates and voting instructions. For the rest of us, here are the details:

See you in South East Asia

I hope to keep up the usual stream of postings on this blog through October as I

  • disappear into the wilds of urban Manila to see the in-laws
  • present at the itSMF conference in Singapore
  • likewise in Bangkok a couple of days later

Google Trends is always interesting

I got whipped in the stock market bubble like many people, so I'm the last to read too much into graphs any more, but nevertheless I always find Google Trends interesting.

hey all you nerds in itSM

Apparently Don Tennant thinks ITSM is less than fascinating and even has a bit of fun at our expense. The thing that most impressed me about the video was that nobody actually hit him.

The ITIL V3 - COBIT V4.1 mapping white paper is available and no wonder noone is saying much

The long awaited ITIL V3 - COBIT V4.1 mapping white paper is available ... for a price. This is the final paper in a long-awaited series that answer the question left unanswered by the ITIL V3 books - how does ITIL relate to the standards and frameworks around it? The answer is that ITIL is very much a subset of COBIT's more comprehensive coverage.

Advertising to the itSMF keyword

Google AdWords/AdSense is a fascinating thing. Internet advertising may be the most revolutionary thing ever to happen to small business marketing (or big business for that matter). The sensitivity and feedback are extraordinary for testing and refining marketing messages. (So why do vendors still do so badly?).

The point of this ramble is that right now someone is paying over five bucks a click for the "itSMF" keyword.

An apology to itSMF

When I wrote about speaker eligibility for the upcoming itSMF International Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC), I got mad and I allowed that to cloud my judgement and affect my language. I was rude. I apologise for the tone of the posting, to Ken Wendle whose name was on the document in question, and to itSMF in general. I'll understand if you speak to me like that when next we meet, but I hope I can keep things on a more professional level here on in. Sorry.
I have edited the posting to moderate the tone.
